A dead Indian is fished out of the Ilm River. He turns out to be Wolfgang Weber, owner of the Western town El Doroda. From his manager Heinz Knapps, Weimar detectives Kira Dorn and Lessing learn that Weber wanted to terminate the leases of the Western town's tenants. Did the hobbyists, in their desperation, throw a lynch party?

While Kira investigates undercover in El Doroda and proves that a real cowgirl slumbers within her, Lessing encounters the ice-cold civil engineering contractor Ellen Kircher. She has her degenerate son Nick spreading fear and terror in the Western town ever since Weber refused to pay for a failed geothermal drilling project there.

However, the violent death of a young bison and an attack on Heinz Knapps suggest that a deeper secret lies behind the Indian's murder.
