Die Robuste Roswita

mdr 2018

The murder of Christoph Hassenzahl, CEO of a traditional dumpling manufactory, shakes Weimar. His remains are found in granulated form. Shortly after detectives Kira Dorn and Lessing begin their investigation, Hassenzahl's wife Roswita, previously thought dead, reappears. She claims she lost her memory seven years ago in a tragic accident and has since made her living as a restroom attendant at a highway service station at Hermsdorfer Kreuz.

Although the investigators confirm her descent from dumpling queen to bathroom queen is true, Roswita still falls under suspicion of murder. Did she really only regain her memory the day her husband was murdered? Roswita's new partner Roland Schnecke swears this is the case. But he too is a shady character, as evidenced by his expensive car that he could never have afforded on his meager earnings. Is the sudden windfall connected to the murder?

The detectives also meet Thomas Halupczok, a potato farmer whose livelihood was destroyed by Hassenzahl. He too would be capable of murder, especially since his lover Marion Kretschmar is the manager of a supermarket chain that exclusively distributed "Hassenzahler Dumpling Specialties" and drove the company to financial ruin by terminating their contract. The dumpling broth that Kira Dorn and Lessing must stir is murkier than the Ilm River.
